Wedding season is just around the corner! If you are getting ready for your big day and haven’t booked an appointment for your wedding day hair, it is not too late. Juanita Gaeta, at Serenity Hair Design in Lafayette, Indiana, has several years of experience making brides look gorgeous.
Juanita offers professional bridal hair services at Serenity Hair Design or can be available to come to you at your desired location. For on-site services, additional fees may apply – call (765) 447-4214 for more information.
Bridal wedding hair services typically include a pre-trial appointment to play with different looks and/or finalize wedding day hair plans. The pre-trial is typically done about one to two weeks prior to the wedding day. The pre-trial wedding hairstyle also helps to put the bride at ease, so that everything will fall into place perfectly on the wedding day.
Pre-trial wedding hairstyles typically cost about 50.00 and are usually only done on the bride, although can be done for bridesmaids also. Wedding day hairstyles typically run about 75.00 for the bride and 50.00 for bridal party hairstyles. Call to ask about custom wedding packages, on-site breakfast or for more information.
We recently did a photo-shoot that featured 3 different bridal/formal hairstyles. These gorgeous models were absolutely wonderful to work with and we were thrilled with how each of these wedding updos turned out.
First pictured is model MaKayla. MaKayla’s hair is parted on the side with a fishtail braid on side of the part. The back is curled, lightly teased to add volume and a tousled effect and pinned. This style has an elegance to it that demands attention, but isn’t overdone. This style is versatile and would work well for a prom, wedding or other formal event.
This next updo, as seen on Tawnah (our model below), incorporates varied textures. The top is smooth, polished and side-swept. The hair was curled and pinned, cascading to the side for an asymmetrical balance. This updo was perfect for a birdcage veil. We actually made our own for this shoot by simply gathering and pinning a section fabric at the base. We concealed pins and tied it all together by securing a peacock feather hair piece at the base. Side-swept styles are great for weddings because they typically photograph well. You will likely not have pictures in which the hair style is completely hidden from the front, as you may with some updos that are centered in the back of the head.
Last but certainly not least, we have Christine, who is modeling a classic, refined and simple bridal hairstyle. This updo is smooth and polished all over. We teased lightly at the base to create some volume then smoothed everything down into a low, side pony-tail. Next, we teased the hair in the pony-tail to create fullness, smoothed over the top and tucked it into place with bobby pins. We finished this look by placing a few simple orchids at the base. This is a great style for someone seeking timeless elegance. This style works best on people with long, thick hair. If your hair is not long and or thick though, your stylist can probably use extensions or hair fillers to create this style.
Check out what went on behind-the-scenes at our most recent shoot that featured updos and bridal hair styles. We had so much fun working with our awesome photographer and lovely models. Enjoy!
Model gift bags, tons of make-up, hairspray, bobbypins, and snack-time 🙂
Getting started… a lot of lacing/teasing was necessary to give this look volume and hold.

We think Monica looks like a model herself in this one!
Finishing touches to set this bird-cage veil in place. We used a small piece of fabric and a some peacock feathers to make our own birdcage veil for this shoot. We grouped the fabric together at the base, pinned it all in place, and then added the feather to finish the look.
